Ohio Glass Museum with Mike Shook

January 10 @ 8:00 am - 8:30 am

The Museum was established to reflect the importance of the glassmaking industry in the history of Lancaster and Fairfield County.  Fairfield County has been home to numerous glass companies over the years.  Abundant supplies of natural gas and sandstone in the area made it a logical choice for the establishment of the glass making industry.  In 2003, the Ohio legislature designated Lancaster as the “Pressed Glass Capital of Ohio. Under the direction of our Art Director and our other volunteers, we continue to provide our patrons with interesting displays of glassware from collectors in the local, surrounding areas, and sometimes out-of-state.  These collections have included some of the most well-known producers of glass throughout the country: many of which are no longer in production.
